Joint Security Area (Panmunjom)

The Joint Security Area (JSA), also known as Panmunjom, is a stark reminder of the ongoing tensions from the Korean War, located deep within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) near Seoul. This unique site allows visitors to see the actual border and North Korean soldiers on the other side. At the Military Armistice Commission (MAC) Conference Room, a blue building still used for negotiations between the two sides, the border runs through the center. Visitors can cross into North Korea by stepping to the other side of the room, making it a rare place where such a crossing is possible without a visa.
