Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya), a UNESCO World Heritage Site straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is renowned as the world’s largest sheet of falling water. Though neither the widest nor the tallest waterfall, its immense volume creates a thunderous spectacle accompanied by a mist visible up to 48 kilometers away on clear days. Originally named Mosi-oa-Tunya—meaning ‘the smoke that thunders’—by the indigenous Batonga people, the falls were later renamed by Dr. David Livingstone in honor of Queen Victoria. The site remains a powerful natural landmark, blending dramatic geology with deep cultural significance.
